2nd Saturday Work Party Feb 12, 2022 10am – 1pm

February 8, 2022 By Marla Master

We’ll be working on the Stevens Site in Magnolia. Weed out invasive plants and mulch natives to help numerous bird species, amphibians, & mountain beavers – and see what’s already sprouting and budding in your local forest. We’ll also take a short walking tour to our other nearby restoration sites.  No experience necessary. Come for the whole time – or drop by for an hour.

Dress for the weather, in clothes you can get snagged and muddy. (We have tools and gloves)

Meet at the Park entrance beside 4433 Brygger Dr W, just north of W Government Way and 34th Ave W.

Sign up here: https://seattle.greencitypartnerships.org/event/20897/

Please contact us at workparty@heronhelpers.org to learn more.

Please wear a mask.

The 2020 season begins!

February 28, 2020 By Marla Master

The herons have returned to the colony for nesting season! It’s a great time to observe as they pair up and work on their nests. A few pairs have mated already and in approximately 28 days the first eggs will hatch! We hope you visit the colony to observe these fascinating birds. Stay tuned for pop up viewing events when we have telescopes set up and naturalists on hand. Follow us here or on facebook or twitter for the latest news. And if you want to volunteer – in any capacity – don’t be shy!

Young Artists and MAX Magnolia Art Experience donate to HHH

August 23, 2019 By Marla Master

Magnolia Art Experience is a local non-profit best described by the words of founder Scott Ward:

“a community gathering place that encourages art and creativity, provides gallery space for local artists, a dedicated place for classes and community–building around all disciplines of art—performance, literary and visual—where kids and adults can participate in making art and being inspired by art.”

HHH had the pleasure of meeting MAX volunteers during the village bird mural painting and we shared a booth at Magnolia SummerFest 2018.

We believe a shared commitment to the community and making a difference unifies our two groups.

Today, we opened the mail to find this letter and donation from MAX Magnolia Art Experience!!

We are beyond grateful and appreciative to be supported by the Magnolia community – and particularly by these young artists – who already understand the fragility of our planet and the importance of protecting it.

Thank you MAX, Narthex gallery, and all the artists that participated!
