General/Business Meeting scheduled for October 28th: Meeting to discuss future directions and structure for HHH. Meeting place to be announced.

What's Brewing at HHH?

This Summer has been a time for change and unrest. Both of our co-presidents resigned from the board, and one of those resigned from HHH. We also lost one of our dear hospitality people and volunteer co-ordinator. There was controvery over restoration strategies, and controversy over our goals. See the mention above for a meeting on October 28th to discuss all of this.

Japanese Knotweed infestation! The HHH restoration committee approved the continued use of herbicide in the Kiwanis Ravine project areas. Determination of the best course of action for controlling invasive species within the ravine is the responsibility of the HHH project leaders. Their decisions are made using best practice information, oversight from the HHH Restoration Committee and the Parks Department.

Catch this show! Kathleen Atkins has been observing and photographing the Kiwanis Ravine herons this year. Her beautiful photos are currently on exhibit at the Starbucks on East Olive in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, September 21 through October 21, 2008. The pictures are giclée prints on handmade mulberry paper.
