Observing the Herons

While there is no access into Kiwanis Ravine itself, you can follow the "Bike Route" signs to the hidden pedestrian bridge over the RR tracks for the best sight lines to the heronry.

To find the pedestrian bridge:

  • If you are approaching from the Locks, hunt for the street sign on W. Commodore Way marking 33rd Ave and Harley Street. Head up the hill.
  • If you are approaching from W. Government Way, follow 32nd Ave as it becomes a secluded path to the bridge.

As you stand on the bridge, aim your binoculars or scope to the southwest (toward Discovery Park).
