The herons have developed a satellite colony near Kiwanis Ravine, down the hillside toward the Chittenden Locks in Commodore Park. There are about 8 nests there, and the herons seem pretty relaxed about people nearby, but viewers should be sensitive to the birds' need for privacy and protection from sudden, loud noises.
